MyWay is a Portuguese company that was founded in 2009 by Carlos Marques and the service launched in 2010. It is a music service that is available all over the world with some restrictions. It was the first premium service that arrived to Portugal and the company has 14 employed workers. MyWay has around 700.000 active users every month where 35.000 of them are registered. In the music library there is 7 million songs that comes from the record company Labels.
MyWay offers online music streaming from any browser that supports HTML5. Although there is no required registration MyWay offers two versions of subscription, Light and Premium, that has some advantages over the Free version. The main goal is not to have as many subscribers as possible but instead offer a free of charge music service to everyone.
- Free: As with the other services most of the users are using the free version of MyWay and they have an advertised web-based application to navigate through. There are pre made playlists that works as radio channels to listen to. The free version does not allow the user to search for specific music rather sort those pre made playlists by genre. The music is normally coded as wma with 92 kbit/s and for other operating systems than Microsoft, MyWay will provide songs coded in mp3 with bitrate of 192 kbit/s.
- Light: For a relatively low cost the service has the same features as Free but ad-free.
- Premium: With a Premium account the user has access to the whole library that MyWay offers by individual searches. A Premium user can make unique playlists and even download up to 2000 tracks per month for free. As with Light this version is ad-free. Depending on which platform that is used, music will be coded with either AAC in 192 kbit/s or Mp3 320 kbit/s.

10% of the data traffic is allowed to come from outside of Portugal which makes it to a global service even if the only language supported[til date] is Portuguese. MyWay is expanding to other countries than Portugal like Brazil that is the main project of 2012 where no subscription version will be available. Most of the data goes through a data server provided by the Portuguese multimedia company ZON.
MyWay has a strong partnership with msn Portugal(Microsoft) and the site lies under a msn domain. That is also the main reason why the format wma is prefered in the free version.
Besides all music that MyWay offers, the website also includes a newspaper, video clips, concerts and basically everything from the music world.
