From the Airport
Lisbon Airport is located about 5 km to the North of the IST area.
You may use either the subway, the airport bus or taxi - more info
available
here.
You can take the subway
directly from the airport (AEROPORTO).
The closest subway stations
to IST are ALAMEDA (5 minutes walk), or SALDANHA (10
minutes walk).
On a daily basis, the
AeroBus line 1 runs between Lisbon Airport and Cais do Sodré passing
by the city centre.
Service begins at 7:45 and ends at 22:30. The AeroBus are faster than
regular buses, having less stops. Tickets can be purchased on board or at
the Lisbon Tourism counters in arrivals, public area. Aerobus tickets are
valid for 24 hours service and on the day they are punched they are valid on
any Carris coach.

Take the Bus at the sidewalk near the Arrivals, and exit the bus at the
“Avenida da República” bus stop. Travel time to IST can be 20-40 minutes
depending on the traffic. It takes about 10 minutes walking from the bus
stop to IST.
There are two taxi stands within the perimeter of the
airport’s main terminal, one at the arrivals floor and the other at the
departures floor (above).
Often it’s better to take a taxi at the departures floor.
Ask the airport’s staff how to go from the arrivals to the departures
floor.
All taxis are metered.
You may get updated information and obtain a Taxi Voucher at the Tourism
Information Counter in the atrium of the Airport Arrivals Hall.
Travel cost to IST should be around 10-15 Euro (depending on hour and if
luggage boot is used) and it should take from 15 to 30 minutes to get there,
depending on traffic.
Most taxis are beige but some are black and green. If the customer is
pleased with the service, a tip is usually given to the driver.
Whatever means of transport you choose, IST is easily
reachable. Take any public transport that passes near "Alameda" (D. Afonso
Henriques) or "Saldanha".
